Roma have activated their option to buy Stephan El Shaarawy from Milan, it was announced today.
“Today is a truly important day for me, because I have become to all effects a Roma player,” declared the 23-year-old.
“I want to thank President Pallotta, director of sport Sabatini, Coach Spalletti, my teammates and all of AS Roma for the faith they put in me from the very first day.
“Above all, I thank the Giallorossi fans who welcomed me with warmth and affection. We will achieve great things together… Daje Roma!”
The wide forward had joined on loan in January with option to buy for €13m.
The deadline for that option was tonight at 23.00 UK time (22.00 GMT), so time was running out.
Roma had been trying to get a discount or include a player as part of the deal, but confirmed in their own statement that the price paid was €13m.
He signed a contract with the Stadio Olimpico side until June 2020.
Milan released a statement announcing Roma have activated their option to buy and therefore El Shaarawy has been sold.
The Little Pharaoh made a huge impact with the Giallorossi, scoring eight Serie A goals in 16 games.
