Antonio Candreva’s thigh injury is continuing to cause concern, as there are fears he could miss the rest of Euro 2016.
The Italy and Lazio winger has been ruled out of tomorrow’s Round of 16 showdown with Spain.
He picked up a muscular problem after the 1-0 win over Sweden and has already missed the 1-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland.
According to Tuttosport, Candreva will need tests to determine whether or not there is a tear in the thigh muscle.
If confirmed, he would be unable to recover in time for the rest of the tournament.
Candreva had seemingly been on the way back to full fitness in time for the Spain match until yesterday afternoon, when an official statement confirmed he would not be available.
This suggests he aggravated the injury in training and it could be more serious than expected.
