Valerio Verre's agent confirms that Napoli could sign the player, only to leave him at Pescara on a loan deal.

The 22-year-old was owned by Udinese, but they decided not to exercise their buy-back clause and leave him with the newly-promoted club.

“This turn of events surprised me too,” his agent Patrick Bastianelli told Il Messaggero Veneto. “I expected Udinese to retain the player and develop him.

“This turn of events surprised me too,” his agent Patrick Bastianelli told Il Messaggero Veneto. “I expected Udinese to retain the player and develop him.

“Now he might be purchased by Napoli, and then turned over to Pescara on loan.”

This strategy would not be new for the Partenopei, who wanted to do something similar with Gianluca Caprari, Francesco Zampano and Ferdinando Del Sole as part of their attempt to sign Gianluca Lapadula.

“Udinese retained a very promising player anyway: [Andrija] Balic, who was being followed by Roma too, and who is destined to great things.

“Let's say that quality is a solid investment and players like Balic and Verre have a lot of it.”
