Roma have announced that Seydou Doumbia will join Basel on loan for the 2016-17 season.
The Ivorian forward joined the Giallorossi in January of 2015, but failed to make an impact in Serie A.
Loan spells at CSKA Moscow and Newcastle United followed, but the Magpies opted not to make the deal permanent.
Given he has a contract until 2019, the Lupi have been keen to send the striker elsewhere, and it has now been confirmed that he will move to Switzerland.
“AS Roma announces that it has reached an agreement with FC Basel 1893 for a temporary transfer of the player Seydou Doumbia for the the 2016-17 season,” a statement on the club’s official website confirmed.
Doumbia made 14 Serie A appearances for Roma, scoring twice, and managed just 29 minutes of Premier League football in his loan spell at Newcastle.
