The competition would bring together only teams from the top five leagues in Europe, meaning England, Italy, Spain, France and Germany.

These are the championships which generate by far the greatest revenue in terms of broadcasting rights, and they would allow for a whole new level of business, sponsorship deals and marketing.

According to Repubblica, the president of sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media, Marco Bogarelli, has already been in touch with some of the top European clubs to broach the subject.
