Fabio Capello considers Portugal to be “the favourites” in the Euro 2016 Final against hosts France on Sunday.

While Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal have only won one game in 90 minutes during the tournament, they are in the Final in Paris.

“It will be a very interesting match and a difficult one for both teams,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia.

“France are strong in attack, but have defensive problems. Portugal are a compact side who remind me of Antonio Conte’s Italy and upfront have a player who can turn the game at any moment. The two Coaches will have to study each other very carefully to win this.

“They are the hosts and therefore are the favourites on paper, but in my view Portugal are in better shape. They will know how to wait for the right moment and hurt France.”

Capello was also asked about England crashing out to Iceland in the Round of 16 and Italy to Germany on penalties for the quarter-finals.

“England have a good attack and decent midfield, but absolutely no defence. The English players also reach this stage of the season absolutely squeezed dry.

“Italy had a great Euros with spirit and played as a team with real love for the shirt.”
