“The interest of Milan is flattering,” Papu told Sky Sports Italia. “[Coach Vincenzo] Montella wanted me for Fiorentina too, but for now it's just market gossip.
“Every year I get linked to a different team and I always end up staying. I'm waiting for a top team, if I get a call, good, otherwise I'm happy where I am.
“I haven't heard Montella again, only his assistant. It's a long market, I've been told that I'm not on sale but we'll see. I spoke to [president Antonio] Percassi and I told him I'd like to have a go in a top team.”
Papu was also asked whether he preferred Montella or former Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
“I don't know Sinisa, I didn't work with him at Catania, but I've heard very good things.
“I can speak of Montella because I know him, and he's a great person and a great Coach. He'll have an excellent career.
“Atalanta? It's a tough target but we can qualify for Europe if we find a Coach that teaches us a good game. It would be a great satisfaction.
“[Alberto] Paloschi is a player who scored many goals in Serie A, he's an important signing for us. These are days of hard work, it's normal that we should seem a bit tired now but we'll play better later.”
