“This was the danger, that we’d find a team whose domestic league has already started,” said the Coach.

“We were hoping for an easier draw, but instead we have a side that finished third in the Swiss League, so are not to be underestimated.

“Playing the second leg at home could be an advantage, but in the end what counts is the performance. Sassuolo have always worked to play the same way, whether at home or away.

“At least it’s not too far away, so the travel won’t be too complicated for us or our fans.”

Sassuolo finished sixth in Serie A last term, beating Milan to a place in the Europa League.

“The draw could’ve gone better, that’s for sure,” midfielder Magnanelli told Sassuolo Channel.

“The impression is that we’ve found an organised side that is improving and above all will be ready physically, as they start their season long before us.

“In 15 days we’ll already be on the field, so are working to find sharpness as soon as possible. We hope our fans will follow us in big numbers.

“It is our absolute debut in Europe, so we’re very excited, and the important thing is that Sassuolo earned this right to compete in the Europa League.”
