Edin Dzeko thanked Roma fans for their support and is raring to go after “lots of tactical work” in training.
The striker struggled in his maiden Serie A season, scoring eight goals in 31 games, but above all famous for some shocking misses.
“I am in good shape and it’s wonderful to be here with our fans,” Dzeko told Roma Radio in Italian.
“Now I have to do my job to the best of my abilities. A striker has to score goals and when he doesn’t, it all becomes more difficult, in the mentality too.

“Now I have to do my job to the best of my abilities. A striker has to score goals and when he doesn’t, it all becomes more difficult, in the mentality too.
“I am 30 years old, so I’ve got the experience to know these things happen and without goals you are more likely to be criticised.
“What is the goal for me? It’s everything. I dream of goals at night and any type of goal is beautiful – head, knee, even arm!
“I know that I need to improve and am working very hard to achieve that.”
This is Dzeko’s first pre-season training retreat with Roma, as he arrived from Manchester City very late in the day last summer, but also his first chance to work solidly with Coach Luciano Spalletti.
“We are working very hard and doing lots of tactical work too. I am not the classic centre-forward who waits for the ball in the box. I want to move, seek spaces and avoid marking.
“Now we are all on the same level, including the new players. We have one objective, which is to do everything we can for Roma.”
Dzeko also joked about teammate Diego Perotti’s ‘slalom’ style of dribbling.
“He reminds me of Alberto Tomba every time!”
