The Nerazzurri have been trying to sign the winger for several weeks now, but their offer of €18m simply won't budge the Aquile president Claudio Lotito, who insists on a €25m price-tag.

The two clubs are expected to meet in Lega Serie A today. While most onlookers will follow the summit to find out about Juventus and Napoli's dealings for Gonzalo Higuain, there will also be developments relative to Candreva's future.

“Candreva came among the Biancocelesti and was received by the insults of some of the tifosi,” his agent Federico Pastorello recalled, in an interview with Tele Radio Stereo. “He won over everyone, but now even Antonio has understood that it's time to face new challenges.

“The fans mustn't get angry or irritated. It's part of a logic that brings the players and the clubs to take certain decisions together and part on their respective ways. It doesn't mean that the parting must be on bad terms.

“His time there allowed him to develop an excellent relationship with the president, the director, the Coaches, the teammates and the fans. If he leaves, he'll leave with a smile.

“As for where, I don't like to speak outside of the official venues, but Antonio will obviously consider offers from abroad, for his life experience as well as his professional one.”
