Azzurri back U19 Italy ahead of semis

As Italy's U19 team prepare to face England in the European tournament's semi-finals, Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Nesta and Andrea Pirlo send their best wishes.

With the game kicking off at 11:00 UK time, against a Three Lions squad that has won all three of its games so far, there is a sense of excitement amid the Azzurrini.

Historic rivals Germany have already been defeated by 1-0, and some of Italy's most successful senior players have taken to social media to back their juniors: Buffon, Nesta and Pirlo all published videos wishing the team good luck.

“You start making history when you're a lad, at 15 and 16”, the current Italy goalkeeper reminded them. “Enjoy these moments because they'll be the best memories you'll ever make, and always honour the Italy colours.”

“Listen to your Coach as this is a special and important moment in your careers,” Nesta said. “Give it all and take home a great result, because all of Italy is watching you and wants to be proud of you.”

“Although I'm far away, I'm following you all,” Pirlo added. “Good luck for today and forza Azzurri, always!”
