The potential deal for Pogba has nothing to do with Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival, the newspaper reports, and Juve have only agreed to deal with United because the player has expressed his willingness to return to England.
However, the Bianconeri are now waiting to see whether the arrival of Higuain will change the French international’s mind, given that the Red Devils aren’t even in the Champions League.
Today Manchester United’s chief executive Ed Woodward will return from China, and Juve are expecting a call.
The transfer would probably end up costing United upward of €140m, as the Turin side are unwilling to pay Mino Raiola’s agent fee, and want €120m up front with no bonuses or clauses.
Juventus are considering alternatives such as Axel Witsel of Zenit St Petersburg and Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, but won’t give up hope until Pogba definitively says he wants out.
