Aurelio De Laurentiis confirms Napoli's interest in Inter's Mauro Icardi but won't talk of the deal's 'private' aspects.

The Argentine is touted as one of the best options to replace Gonzalo Higuain, but the Nerazzurri are reluctant to sell him.

“We'd like for this operation to be possible, this is clear to everyone,” De Laurentiis told Il Corriere dello Sport. “I don't like to discuss matters that have to remain, as far as possible, confidential.

“The Press have a role, let them do that. If they investigate and discover, write or report, I'm fine with that. But right now it would be inelegant for me to reveal some private matters.

“That Icardi is an extraordinary striker is clear just by looking at his numbers. We had practically signed him before he went to Inter. Certain love stories just do not end, evidently.”

The president also mentioned Kalidou Koulibaly in passing, who seems keen to leave the club.

“I think that's a false problem,” he said, dismissing the issue.
