Napoli held a three-hour meeting with Mauro Icardi’s entourage and increased the wage offer, but the bid to Inter remains €62m.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the encounter was held near Bologna this afternoon and lasted for a good three hours.
The Partenopei representatives reiterated their intention to offer €60m plus €2m bonuses to Inter, a sum the club seems intent on rejecting.
Napoli hope they can get Icardi on side so he can pressure Inter into accepting his departure.
They increased the personal terms on offer to the Argentine by €300,000 in order to convince him of the move.
Reports today suggested Icardi was so upset by the sudden departure of Coach Roberto Mancini that he burst into tears.
Again, Napoli hope this can work in their favour, although new boss Frank de Boer made it clear he wants Icardi to remain at San Siro.
