Chelsea boss Antonio Conte admits he’s “not relaxed because it’s a big challenge to manage a new team in a new league and a new country.”

The former Juventus and Italy Coach will have his Premier League debut on the Blues bench on Monday against West Ham United.

“I’m not very relaxed because when you start a new season it’s a fantastic experience but it’s the first time I’ve managed a new team in a new league and new country,” said Conte in a Press conference.

“It’s a big challenge for me and my family and for this reason I’m not relaxed, but I know we are working very hard to be prepared.

“We have to do a lot of work to improve but we’ve started and I’m happy to start this new experience. There is a fantastic atmosphere here and I’m very excited.

“Now we are working on a new idea, a new philosophy. I’m trying to bring my principles and I know the players are the same from last season, but these players won the title two years ago.

“It’s important for them to find the right confidence. We are working to play attractive football and to very soon fight for the right position for Chelsea.”

Conte has shelved his 3-5-2 system for a return to the early days of his management career, using 4-2-4 or 4-1-4-1 shapes.

“In my past I played with four defenders or three defenders but it’s important for the manager to understand the right thing for the team.

“During my first experiences with Bari and Siena I played with 4-2-4, when I arrived at Juventus I started with 4-2-4 then went to 4-3-3 and then 3-5-2. With the national team I tried different formations to find the right solution.

“The manager must get to know the players. We’ve found two solutions in the tactical aspect and in the future it could change, but I hope to find the right thing very quickly.”

The Italian Coach has brought his very disciplined approach to life off the field and in the locker room.

“I bring my experience as a former player and I think that’s important because every single manager must try to improve their players in different aspects, not just technical or tactical but everything from improving performance to aiding recovery after games and avoiding injuries.

“My experience as a former player is important and I try to transfer that to my players and then they understand if it’s good or not good for them.

“It’s important to understand the right way to approach a situation. When you’ve been there yourself you know the right time to be soft or strong.”
