Stefano Colantuono tips Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini for Capocannoniere, while “Roma can challenge Juventus for the Scudetto.”

The former Udinese and Atalanta Coach spoke to Tuttomercatoweb ahead of the Serie A opening weekend.

“I think after the transfer activity it’s pretty clear that Juventus are the team to beat,” said Colantuono.

“Behind them I see Roma, Napoli, then the rest. I think the Milanese clubs are a little late to the party, at least at the beginning, though obviously over the course of a campaign anything can happen.”

Napoli came second last season, but have lost top scorer Gonzalo Higuain to their arch rivals Juventus.

“They have a good team, though it remains to be seen how they replace someone who scored 36 goals. Gabbiadini has started well this summer, I saw him look very motivated in friendlies. He can be the ‘new’ name.

“Gabbiadini always had the talent and I trained him in his first Serie A season. I often talked about his great potential. I get the feeling he has improved in terms of mental strength and is even clearer on just what he can do.

“It’d be too easy to tip Higuain as Capocannoniere this year, so I’m going to say Gabbiadini. Roma are built very well on paper and I believe will challenge Juventus for the Scudetto.

“I hope the revelation of the campaign will be Atalanta. I say that as a fan and as someone nostalgic for my old club.”
