Juventus urged Luiz Gustavo to hold off before signing a contract extension with Wolfsburg, claim Mediaset Premium.
The 29-year-old’s current deal is due to expire in June 2018 and he is in negotiations with the club.
According to Italian television station Mediaset Premium, Juve emissaries asked the midfielder to delay the process if possible.
They hope to make the most of the situation to make a new offer to Wolfsburg in January or at the end of next season.
The Brazilian arrived from Bayern Munich in August 2013, having previously played for TSG Hoffenheim and Corinthians.
Luiz Gustavo has two goals in 40 senior caps for Brazil.
