Mauro Icardi is expected to sign a new Inter contract to June 2021, but it will include a release clause worth over €80m.
The striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara spent the summer protesting that Inter broke promises to increase his wages and pushed for a transfer to Napoli or Arsenal.
The Nerazzurri rejected all offers and are now working out the final details of a contract extension.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new deal will run to June 2021 and will be worth €5m per year.
Icardi currently earns €2.4m in terms of salary plus €1.6m in image rights per season.
Above all, it will include a release clause set between €80m and €100m, though the exact figure is still being discussed.
The contract ought to be signed in September or August, as advanced talks over the details will take place after the transfer session has closed.
Icardi has a remarkable tally of 52 goals in 105 games for the Nerazzurri.
