“The transfer strategy was agreed between all the various elements of the club,” Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

“It was also a bit of an unusual one, as we have to get agreements from Fininvest (Berlusconi’s company) and the Chinese investors. The budget has been respected.

“Criticism or praise is all part of the football job.”

Galliani was asked about some of the big names Milan have been linked with.

“I can confirm that I asked Roma for Paredes a month ago, but I was told he is not for sale. The Coach put a stop to any discussion.

“Kovacic will not be released either, (Real Madrid President) Florentino Perez told me so.

“We are looking for an understudy to Riccardo Montolivo, that is what we must find while respecting the budget we have.”

What about the interest in Sao Paulo defender Rodrigo Caio?

“I saw him play last night in the Olympics, but we’re covered in defence. We have Cristian Zapata too.”
