The former FIFA president has appealed to the Court of Arbitration of Sport against his six-year-ban from all football-related activity, on from charges of being involved in last year's corruption scandals.

“My name wouldn’t be Sepp Blatter if I didn’t have faith, if I wasn’t optimistic,” Blatter told the Press. “I will accept the verdict. In football you learn to win, which is easy, but you also learn to lose. Still, this is not good, I wouldn’t want to lose.

“I’m sure at the end that the panel will understand that the payment made to Platini was really a debt that we owed him. This is a matter of principle, if you have debts, you pay them.”
