Antonio Cassano’s agent hit back at Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero, confirming he “turned down offers from China and Mexico.”

The striker is an outcast at Samp, not even allowed to enter the team’s locker room, but continues to refuse a transfer.

“I want to make it clear that Cassano never said he wanted to leave if Vincenzo Montella was no longer the Coach, nor he did he have any other meetings in June, as he told the President – in the presence of director of sport Carlo Osti – that he’d have no problem being eighth choice at this team,” agent Beppe Bozzo told the Secolo XIX newspaper.

“His love for Sampdoria goes beyond any other football considerations. Cassano has turned down lucrative offers from China and Mexico, because he wants to stay at Sampdoria.

“I invite President Ferrero to bury the hatchet, because there is no war here. We just have to focus on the good of Sampdoria without sparking controversy.

“He has not requested to be re-introduced into the squad, he just wants to continue training. His dream was a return to Sampdoria and the choice will be exclusively his.

“This is the final year of his contract and nobody will deny him the dream of playing for Sampdoria again. So we invite Ferrero to calm down and not get so agitated.”
