Jovetic move close to collapse

Stevan Jovetic is reportedly very unlikely to return to Fiorentina, as Inter won’t subsidise his wages.

The Montenegrin forward has been in talks over a return to the Viola, the club where he made his name.

However, SportMediaset reports that, given that his wages are €7m gross per season, the Tuscan side would need the Nerazzurri to subsidise his salary as part of any loan deal.

While talks are ongoing, Fiorentina are only willing to pay around €2m, meaning that a compromise is unlikely to be found.

It puts both the Beneamata and Jovetic in limbo, as the club was hoping to fee up funds and space for another attacker, with Financial Fair Play to consider.

Inter will have to buy Jovetic from Manchester City for €17m the next time he plays, so the forward faces spending six months on the bench.

It had been hoped that the Nerazzurri could buy Jovetic but get his wages off the books with a loan, but that now seems unlikely.
