Claudio Fenucci insists Bologna did not miss out on Alessio Cerci as the forward was only pursued in the event Anthony Mounier departed.
Bologna had reportedly agreed a season-long loan for Cerci on transfer-deadline day, only for him to fail his medical, but Fenucci made it clear losing the Atletico Madrid outcast “wasn’t a blow”, his side having staved off late interest from France for Mounier.
“I think the sporting director did a good job,” the CEO told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Some quality players arrived and they will be very important to the Coach.”
On Cerci, Fenucci added: “It wasn’t a blow in the final hour. We received an offer from France for Mounier and worked to that effect.
“Cerci’s return [from injury] was then longer than we’d anticipated. Mounier eventually spoke with Donadoni and stayed put.”
