Palermo will have their first training session under new Coach Roberto De Zerbi tomorrow after Davide Ballardini resigned.
The club is already in chaos just two rounds into the season, having changed management eight times last term.
Ballardini resigned in protest at the lack of transfer activity, specifically the refusal to sign a new striker or experienced goalkeeper on deadline day.
“Ballardini sent me a text message that read: ‘I have no intention of continuing to train Palermo’” revealed President Maurizio Zamparini on Mediagol.
“We have 14 players away on international duty, seeing as it’s such a ****ty squad with all these internationals… There’s something wrong. First he wanted an old goalkeeper, then a striker, but we tried to make him happy.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia and other sources are all confident De Zerbi will be in the city this evening.
He’ll have his first training session tomorrow morning to start working towards the Serie A debut against Napoli on Saturday.
De Zerbi was a free agent after parting company with Lega Pro side Foggia over disagreements within the club.
The 37-year-old is expected to sign a two-season deal with Palermo, earning just €0.5m per year.
