Marco Fassone reportedly wants a new Milan sporting director by next week, with Massimiliano Mirabelli the favourite.

The Rossoneri are in the process of a takeover, with Sino-Europe Sports acquiring the club from Silvio Berlusconi’s company, Fininvest.

Fassone has been appointed by the Chinese consortium to oversee the transition, and Sky reports that he’s looking to appoint a new sporting director as soon as possible.

It’s believed the top candidate is Inter’s chief scout Massimiliano Mirabelli, after which a club legend will be chosen to work alongside the new sporting director.

Paolo Maldini is an obvious candidate, but appears to be unreceptive to the idea at the moment, so other names under consideration are Demetrio Albertini and Alessandro Costacurta.
