“It was a wonderful welcome at the airport from the Inter fans. To be honest, I didn’t expect so many people,” he told reporters after leaving his footprints at the Pele Museum’s Walk of Fame.

“There must’ve been 100-200 people who were just waiting for me. I didn’t have much time to do anything in Milan, but I had dinner with friends and there were fans waiting outside the restaurant too.

“I was really pleased with this welcome, as it’s highly motivating. I am very excited by this new mission and want to prove myself at Inter.”

Gabigol is not actually included in the Europa League squad as he and Joao Mario would’ve tipped the Financial Fair Play scales.

“The real matter is that Inter wanted me to spend more time in Italy. The team will be travelling a lot in the group phase and the club wants me to adapt to my new country. Besides, I haven’t had a vacation this summer and will only get to rest next June.

“Inter really surprised me in every way. They are taking care of everything, even unthinkable matters. They keep an eye out to help me in every area of my life.

“I wanted to play in Europe, but this is only the beginning. I can be registered as normal in future.”
