“The Rossoneri play well and most of the squad is still together from last season. Vincenzo Montella is a fine Coach who brought his ideas and there’s a lot of quality up front.
“When you are in certain arenas, they can score at any moment, so you can’t just sit back and defend. You need to attack and try to score goals with the right mentality.”
Defender Samir joined Thomas Heurtaux on the treatment table this week, but Cyril Thereau is back from suspension.
“In football the unexpected does happen. We have Pablo Armero and Ali Adnan as options in defence, even if Adnan just returned from a long journey for international duty. We must evaluate everything, but will not be unprepared.
“We must always work on tactics individually and collectively. Over the past two seasons Udinese conceded too many goals and we’re working to avoid it happening again.”
Belgium international midfielder Sven Kums is expected to get his first start.
“We discussed getting a player with certain characteristics, who could keep possession and pick passes. Kums was specifically targeted, though he needs time to settle into our style of football.
“We knew this would be a Year Zero for Udinese and are working to shorten those evolutionary steps.”
