Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini praised Franck Kessie after the Ivorian scored the winning goal against Torino.
The midfielder kept his nerve to score from the penalty spot in a 2-1 victory against the Granata, his fourth goal in three Serie A games this season.
“He is a boy who last year in Serie B had an important season,” Gasperini said of the former Cesena man. “This year when he joined up with us, we saw immediately that he had quality.”
The tactician then expressed his belief that La Dea deserved their win on Sunday afternoon.
“It was a hard-fought match. We had a good first half, overall we created more than Torino.
“We went behind and then we got the equaliser quickly. The three points indicate we are on the right track.”
Finally, Gasperini explained the reason he was sent to the stands by referee Maurizio Mariani.
“The sending-off? The technical area is too small and I found myself out of it too often!
“I was calling one of my players, the fourth official had already warned me. I was one step outside.”
