Udinese boss Beppe Iachini believes his team showed “courage” to beat Milan at San Siro in the final minutes.

Stipe Perica came off the bench and struck with a deflected volley late on, securing their first win in this fixture since 2007.

“The team was always solid, organised and left few spaces between the lines,” Iachini told Sky Sport Italia.

“We need to do better with the final ball, as we wasted a few precious counter-attacks in the first half. Nonetheless, we showed courage to keep pushing and in the end got the victory.

“As the game wore on, Milan’s central defenders had worked very hard and so I introduced fresh legs to cause them problems.

“We have to take it one game at a time and help the players to grow. Udinese have always focused on youth and it’s up to me to get the best out of them.

“Udinese want to face the big clubs by playing football, as if you sit back and defend, sooner or later you will concede. My players know to pass forward, never back.”
