Mauro Icardi insists he does not feel burdened by his dual responsibility of captaining Inter and scoring goals.

Icardi’s goals dried up to an extent last season, his first as Inter captain, having finished joint-Capocannoniere the campaign before, but the striker scored a match-winning brace at Pescara over the weekend to add to his equaliser against Palermo.

“In the squad, there are so many leaders,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League on Thursday.

“In the squad, there are so many leaders,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League on Thursday.

“I’m the captain on paper, but like I said after Pescara, I’m a striker and my job is to score goals.

“It doesn’t mean that I have to carry the team on my shoulders, we work as an XI, we’re a team and we each have our own responsibilities on the pitch.

“Overlooked by Argentina? The national team is spoken about too much.

“The Coach decides, and he chose Pratto, who I know well and has always done well wherever he’s played. If the decision is made to pick me, I’ll be ready.”
