A player can receive a four-game ban for “unsportsmanlike conduct toward a match official”, while Medel is also facing a ban for an accumulation of yellow cards.

In addition, if FIFA take into account that Medel reportedly singled out Pitana’s nationality, ‘The Pitbull’ could be sidelined for some time.

Any ban would only be in effect for international matches, so the former Cardiff City player would still be free to play in Serie A.
