Having already touched on his decision to reject a return to Milan last year, Ancelotti was then asked by L’Equipe about two of the most prized prospects he had coached, plus whether he was disappointed to see Pogba return to Manchester United.

“I speak to Coman in Italian because he played for Juventus,” the Coach said.
“He’s grown so much. I launched him at PSG and he impressed me so much.
“Rarely do you find a player so strong at his age. Where can he improve? Moving without the ball.
“Did I want Pogba this summer? No, it was impossible. We already have a great midfield.
“And when I was at Real? Not even there. Pogba’s a great player, but I wasn’t looking for a player of his profile.
“Verratti? He’s a great player. Every time I see him, it’s a surprise. He annoyed me so much, but he’s unique and has a great future.
“He extended until 2022? Woah! It’s normal, good players stay at good teams.
“Buying him now that he’s renewed? Impossible!”
