Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri and President Aurelio De Laurentiis are reportedly at loggerheads over referees.

The tactician was incensed after the goalless draw with Genoa, believing that his side should have been awarded two penalties.

Sarri complained that it shouldn’t be him who was making the concerns public, and urged the club to “make itself heard”.

However, De Laurentiis then released a statement warning that the referees “are to be respected” and pointedly making reference to the €128m invested this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, there is a clear friction between the two men and Sarri’s only point of contact on the board is sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

The Partenopei have often skipped media duties this year, and haven’t held a Press conference to present any of their new signings, leaving the Coach as the only man who faces the media.

In addition, Il Mattino reports that no conversation has yet taken place between De Laurentiis and Sarri after the Genoa match.

Not only that, the newspaper reports that the tactician was furious at the silence from the club over the penalty incidents.
