Cagliari could look to bring in former Juventus defender Martin Caceres if their defensive record doesn’t improve.

The Isolani are newly-promoted, and while they have had no trouble scoring, their record of 11 goals conceded in five games could scupper their survival hopes.

Bruno Alves has been impressive for Massimo Rastelli’s side, but neither Luca Ceppitelli nor Bartosz Salamon have convinced alongside him.

According to calciomercato.it, the Sardinian side are considering bringing-in Martin Caceres, who is a free agent so can be signed outside of a transfer window.

The Uruguayan was linked with Napoli, Roma and Milan during the summer transfer window, but ultimately didn’t find a club.

Able to play at full-back or centre-back, the ex-Bianconero has made it clear that his preference would be to stay in Italy.

Therefore Cagliari could look to bring him in until the end of the season, allowing him to link-up with former teammates Marco Borriello, Mauricio Isla, Marco Storari and Simone Padoin.
