Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini admits he wanted to sign Mario Balotelli but is pleased the player appears to have turned a corner.
The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Sicily from Liverpool, but the Rosaneri could not afford his wages and he eventually joined French club Nice.
“Did I want Balotelli? Yes,” admitted Zamparini to Rai Sport. “I am pleased for him and also with how he is behaving at Nice.
“I am sure that he is a golden boy.
“The cost for Palermo was too high, I can’t allow that type of thing anymore. Maybe Nice can. I am pro-Balotelli!”
Balotelli has scored four goals in his first two matches for his new club, helping them into second place in Ligue 1.
