Roberto Donadoni admired “aggressive and determined” Bologna, but even had regrets it was only a 1-1 draw away to Inter.

Mattia Destro had opened the scoring at San Siro before the Ivan Perisic volleyed equaliser.

“We played very well, were aggressive and determined, but wasted a few chances with the last ball not being right. Knowing Inter’s immense quality and physical strength, I knew we’d struggle when they started flinging crosses into the box,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We held out, battled and had two incredible chances at the end that we could’ve taken to even win. Overall I am satisfied, as it’s not easy for anyone to get a result at San Siro.”

This result was also a gift to Bologna President Joey Saputo, who was in the stands celebrating his birthday.

“Humility is an important component and we must have our feet firmly on the ground to realise it’ll be a tough season, so we must cling on to every point.

“The lads are understanding the situation and some young players had their first game at San Siro today, so they did well.

“Simone Verdi is doing important things, but he still takes too many touches and doesn’t read the game well. He plays at one speed rather than realise when he needs to hold the ball and help take pressure off the team, but he’s learning.”
