Koulibaly: 'Napoli waited for tonight'

Kalidou Koulibaly has “been waiting to hear the Champions League shout ever since I signed for Napoli” as they host Benfica.

It kicks off tonight at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), follow the build-up and action on the LIVEBLOG.

“Tonight a great game awaits us. We’ve been waiting a long time to play a Champions League fixture at home. We’ll do everything to make our fans happy,” defender Koulibaly told Mediaset Premium.

“(Coach Maurizio) Sarri told us to play our football and take possession. We must get the victory and try not to concede, even if we know Benfica are unbeaten in a long time.”

This is the first home match after a 2-1 victory away to Dynamo Kiev and gives the fans the opportunity to let out a deafening sing-along with the Champions League theme.

“Since I signed for Napoli, I’ve been waiting to hear the Champions League shout. I will give everything for Napoli and the city.”
