Marek Hamsik opened the scoring before a Dries Mertens brace and Arek Milik penalty, then the Portuguese giants grabbed two late goals to lessen the blow.

“We have total faith in what we are doing,” declared the Coach in his Press conference.

“The fact is that Napoli are very well-organised and have been playing together for years. We had two chances early on and didn’t take them, while after the break we lost concentration.

“We should’ve controlled the Napoli midfield and we were unable to achieve that, but the performance was not as negative as the result might suggest.

“Maurizio Sarri’s team have great capabilities and the tactical intelligence that is typical of Italian football. They are pragmatic, but also add possession. It’s interesting to change that philosophy of Italian football, uniting pragmatism with quality.

“We knew Napoli were strong on set plays and we were penalised yet again in these situations.”

Napoli are four points clear at the top of the Champions League group, followed by Besiktas with two points, Benfica and Dynamo Kiev on one each.

“Now we have to unite and work hard. There are another four games in this group and we must fight to the bitter end. I am convinced we’ll get back on track from the next match.”
