Giampiero Ventura has called in Nicola Sansone, Domenico Criscito, Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Darmian for Italy’s World Cup qualifiers with Spain and Macedonia.

The Azzurri won the opening fixture 3-1 away to Israel last month.

They will host Spain at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on Thursday October 6 and visit the National Arena Filip II in Skopje on Sunday October 9.

Players will begin arriving at the Coverciano training ground tomorrow evening and can begin work on Monday morning before travelling to Turin on Wednesday.

Sansone is brought in after a wonderful start to his career at Villarreal, the 25-year-old scoring four goals in six Liga games.

The former Sassuolo man does already have one senior Italy cap to his name, but was left out of Euro 2016.

Matteo Darmian of Manchester United returns, though it’s the first senior call for Milan defender Romagnoli.

Andrea Belotti returns following injury and explosive form for Torino, but Simone Zaza of West Ham and Mario Balotelli of Nice are not included.

Mattia Perin of Genoa is back after a long injury lay-off, while Criscito’s good form for Zenit St. Petersburg has seen him earn a recall.

However, there is no place for Mario Balotelli, Simone Zaza, Lorenzo Insigne or Jorginho.
