Kevin Strootman enjoyed an “intense” victory over Inter, but felt Roma “should’ve scored our second goal earlier.”

Edin Dzeko’s early opener was wiped out by Ever Banega, but Kostas Manolas’ header took a big deflection off Mauro Icardi for the win.

“It was intense. We had plenty of chances and so did they. We should’ve scored our second goal earlier, but we got the 2-1 and these are three very important points for us,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium.

“This is a very important success for the fans and those who work for us, so now we can look forward.

“We dropped too many points this season, especially away from home, and that’s not possible for Roma. It is difficult to say what happens when we play away, perhaps it’s psychological. We are professionals and need to do our work away from home as well.

“I always give my all and must continue to improve, although physically I am in good shape, everyone helps me and I want to give something back to Roma, who always supported me.”
