“It’s an incredible feeling to play for the club of your city, especially when you’re a fan,” Florenzi told the Lupi’s official website.

“It feels amazing, and I’m proud whenever I pull on the shirt. There have been a lot of captains, but the two I remember best are Francesco and Daniele. They are the two Roma captains for me, in terms of what I’ve experienced at this club.
“It’s massive to wear the armband, it makes you feel you belong even more. Those two have been my biggest idols.
“It’s great to play in the same team as them, but as I always say, first comes the person and then the footballer. They’ve taught me a lot and I can only thank them.
”Florenzi was answering questions from fans, and was inevitably asked about the Cristiano Ronaldo/Lionel Messi debate.
“First of all, they’re both amazing players. Along with Neymar, they’re the best in the world right now. As a footballer, I prefer Messi.”
The Italian international is known for his versatility, playing midfield, defence and on the wings, but what’s his favourite position?
“Goalkeeper!” Florenzi joked.
“I love going in goal, so I’ll say goalkeeper.”
