Fiorentina President Mario Cognini insists “we will not dismantle the squad, but if it does happen, we’ll replace those who leave.”
The Viola chief was asked about Napoli interest in Nikola Kalinic for the January transfer window, while Milan Badelj is wanted by Chelsea and Milan.
“We said that we wanted to maintain the squad and we will not dismantle it in the next transfer window either,” Cognini told Sportitalia.

“If this eventuality should happen, then it is our duty to replace those who leave with equally strong champions.”
The executive President was also far from reassuring when discussing their objectives for the current campaign.
“Over the last 11 years, we have qualified for Europe nine times. That is the initial objective. Serie A is increasingly difficult and competitive, so that target becomes ever more difficult to achieve.
“Many teams are strengthening, so participating in the Europa League is an objective that is much-aspired to.
“Last season we started very strong and collapsed in the second half of the campaign. We maintained the squad that gave us such entertainment early on and we reinforced it.
“I speak constantly with Coach Paulo Sousa and director Pantaleo Corvino, who reassure me on the good work being done. Some performances were on the right track, but there are some delays. The results will come.
“We all at Fiorentina have the objective of finalising a concept by the end of the year for the new stadium, which will represent the new home of Fiorentina fans. They deserve to have a more comfortable arena and a club-owned stadium brings superior revenue. In Italy we are well behind in these issues.”
