Gianluigi Buffon’s agent reveals he could have joined Lazio, Roma or Barcelona before his move to Juventus.
The 38-year-old remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history, moving to the Bianconeri from Parma for a fee of 100 billion lire [€52m] in 2001.
“Zoff wanted to take him to Lazio when Gigi was at Parma,” Silvano Martina revealed on Radio Incontro Olympia.
“He said he’d never seen such a strong goalkeeper, even better than him. Roma and Barcelona also approached him a lot before he went to Juventus.”
Buffon has since made close to 600 appearances for the Old Lady, winning seven Scudetti - plus two revoked - and lifting the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
