Manolo Gabbiadini has apologised for the reaction foul that saw him given a red card in Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Crotone.

The forward lashed out after a foul from the Pitagorici defender Gian Marco Ferrari, but subsequently apologised in an interview with Il Mattino.

“I was afraid he [Ferrari] could have hurt me with that tackle. I'm sorry, I lost my head.”

Gabbiadini, who is subject to rumours that he could be sold in January, was expelled by referee Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni. He has protested that that his actions were an instinctive gesture to fear rather than anger and that he had no real intention to hurt the opponent
