Max Allegri joked in his Press conference that he might not start Higuain at all after the build-up, but Pipita is guaranteed a place in the XI.

With Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca injured, the only real option in attack is Higuain with Mario Mandzukic.

Patrice Evra is in the Juve squad despite limping off with a calf problem in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Sampdoria.

Claudio Marchisio made his comeback in that match six months after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and it remains to be seen if he’ll be risked from the start for a second match running.

Mario Lemina is suspended in the Champions League against Lyon, so is the most likely to step in rather than Hernanes, but the Brazilian is tipped to play by some sources.

Similarly, Stephan Lichtsteiner is the favourite at right-back rather than Dani Alves, as the Swiss international is unavailable for Europe.

Napoli are missing hitman Arkadiusz Milik with a torn ACL and his replacement Manolo Gabbiadini is suspended, so again there are precious few alternatives.

Dries Mertens impressed in the False 9 role for Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Empoli and got on the scoresheet, also testing Lukasz Skorupski with several good efforts.

The little Belgian will again be flanked by Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne, the Italian still seeking his first goal of the season.

Raul Albiol remains sidelined with a muscular problem and Nikola Maksimovic is expected to take his place, having been rested in favour of Vlad Chiriches in midweek.

There are several choices in midfield and it’s rumoured Maurizio Sarri could drop Jorginho in favour of summer signing Amadou Diawara, bringing more steel rather than creativity.

Juventus (probable): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Khedira, Lemina (Hernanes), Pjanic, Alex Sandro; Mandzukic, Higuain

Napoli (probable): Reina; Hysaj, Maksimovic, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Diawara (Jorginho), Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
