Vincenzo Montella reveals what inspired Giacomo Bonaventura’s goal and why Milan’s win over Pescara “is worth as much as against Juventus.”

Bonaventura placed the decisive free kick under the wall as it jumped to surprise the goalkeeper at the near post.

“A few days ago we were practising defending on dead ball situations and Keisuke Honda, who was acting as the opponent in this scenario, conned us with that trick. Evidently Bonaventura remembered it,” Montella told Mediaset Premium.

“These three points are worth just as much as the three we got against Juventus. We could’ve killed it off earlier, but I liked the performance.

“Pescara play very good football and deserve our compliments.”

It was a tense encounter with two Pescara goals ruled offside and some huge Gianluigi Donnarumma saves.

When Bacca was substituted by Luiz Adriano, the Colombian did not take it well and was muttering at his Coach.

“I didn’t pay much attention to that. I’ve seen worse,” shrugged Montella. “We’ll see if Bacca has something to say to me tomorrow. I have no problem.

“I have to compliment Luiz Adriano, as he fought hard and held up the ball so we didn’t go too deep. Bacca did his job, though he could’ve done better with some chances.

“We put many crosses in and had three or four big opportunities, including one that hit the post. Bacca’s job is to score goals because that is what he does best.”
