Crotone Coach Davide Nicola joked about the row between wannabe penalty takers in their historic victory over Chievo.

Trotta won in the end and successfully converted.

“We have several penalty takers in the squad and some of them are out injured, which is fortunate because otherwise there’d be an even bigger fight for the ball,” smiled Coach Nicola on Sky Sport Italia.

“It made me smile really, but I told them that if we didn’t score that penalty, we’d be really embarrassed. It’s up to the players to decide who wants to take it, I don’t give those particular orders.”

Is it a coincidence that Crotone won once back on their ‘home’ turf of the Stadio Scida after two months playing at Pescara’s Stadio Adriatico?

“It is an experience being in Serie A and we need to become aware of how competitive we are. Having our fans close to us and having the same experience is an important factor.

“Crotone deserved the victory today and got through a Chievo side that is hard to break down. We are trying to play our football and this win proves that is possible.

“Our debut Serie A win – there’s a first time for everything!”
