Inter defender Davide Santon 'still believes' in Champions League qualification for his side this season, despite a terrible start.

The 25-year-old also refused to be drawn on the future of Coach Frank de Boer, stressing that it was a 'decision for the club to make' after his side lost 1-0 away to Sampdoria on Sunday evening.

"It is a difficult time, perhaps the most difficult as an Inter player for me," the fullback told TMW Radio. "We must react, we must do it together, starting from tomorrow, analysing the things that we did wrong. On Thursday we'll play a practice match."

Santon refused to comment on the future of Coach Frank de Boer, instead shifting the blame for the poor results onto the players.

"I will not talk about these things, I think it is a technical issue, but it is a decision for the club to make. I always think that the technical side is working very hard, is helping us a lot, but it is us who go out on the pitch.

"We have be a team, we have to bring home points in those games where there are so many opportunities. We concede easily and we must improve in this area.

"If we had scored we would be talking about a different game, but we went home with zero points, so we have to roll our sleeves up."

Despite the poor start, can Inter still qualify for the Champions League?

"Juventus set the example last year, they had a difficult start and then won the Championship. We are in trouble, but I still believe we can make the Champions League."
