The Brazilian joined on loan from Santos in the summer and has made four starts for the Giallorossi this term. Palmieri was replaced by Bruno Peres on 53 minutes after suffering a calf injury on Sunday and is likely to miss Thursday’s Europa League match against Austria Wien.

Despite this, the club hope that he will be fit to return for the following Serie A encounter with Bologna.

Palmieri joins Mario Rui, Alessandro Florenzi and Abdullahi Nura – a trio who all have cruciate ligament ruptures – on the injury list, along with Francesco Totti and Thomas Vermaelen.
