Coach Simone Inzaghi felt Lazio fully deserved their 1-1 draw away to Napoli, “who are the best team in Italy,” and explained his tactics.

“We played a good game and it’s only natural that we were under pressure, but still always had the feeling we could hurt them on the counter-attack,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“We were playing against a great Napoli side, who in my view are the best team in Italy. We came here hoping to take our chances and were not passive.
“I think the result is a fair one after a very strong performance, especially missing quite a few defenders today.”
Why did Inzaghi change Lazio to a 3-5-2 system for this trip?
“We wanted to limit Napoli’s passing, as I had seen them against other teams playing 4-3-3 and they tended to peg them back.
“I think with our usual system, Ciro Immobile would’ve been isolated between the centre-backs, so we moved Keita closer to create more problems for the Napoli defence.
“With a little more belief we could’ve scored with Immobile at the start of the second half. We are up there in the table now, I am satisfied, we are a great squad who give our all every Sunday.
“It’s only 12 rounds in, there is a long way to go yet and we must continue along this path.”
